Does anyone else's children have night terrors on here? ( N&T Mum, i think i remember you saying one of yours did a while back )

J has always had them but only ever once or twice a month, now it is more two or three times a week. They range from lasting 10 mins and can go up to 2 hours ( maybe more, i am past caring at 3 in the morning  )
During these terrors we can only try and make J safe, the more we touch time the more he screams, there is no way of waking him either.
I did mention it a while ago to J's Dr who said it is very common for young children to have night terrors esp those with ASD.
J is quite a little worrier at the best of times so i often think has he taken a worry to bed that he cant relate into words for me and hence giving himself a nightmare?

As you may of guessed after this post, J has just had a terror and i hae got bruised ribs to prove it!

It wont help much now, but they do ease with age. J used to get them nearly every night, i was a walking zombie all of the time. He wold sweat, scream, shout, cry and go walking arund the house.

Thankfully they arent as bad, although he still shouts and screams in his sleep most nights, but nothing else happens, and they last a minutes or so,

There isnt a lot you can do, just make sure that he is safe while they happen.

Take care

Both my sons had these, small son still does, he sits up and is looking all around eyes wide open but he looks like he is in a nightmare, absolutley terrified and he keeps saying "mummy, mummy, mummy" I can get him out of bed hold his pot and say do a wee and he does but still looks the same, then put him back in bed and hes back to sleep, he used to scream but now its how I described, but he looks sooo frightened, he is def seeing a different place, weird. DS2 grew out of them so hopefully our little ones will too.

DD has them probably at least 5 nights a week, she's been having them since she was really little but they don't last as long as they used too!I remember about 18mths ago it would take up to 2 yrs to settle her,i used to just sit in her room with her because trying to calm her made her worse,it was better to just let her know i was there until it stopped and she would go back to sleep by herself!!

My DS has them still, he doesn't sleep very much and when he does he has terrors!

They are even terrifying to listen to aren't they? Apparently though the children don't remember them once they wake up, unlike a nightmare.

Sorry I don't have any answers for you hope it gets easier with time.

My dd was much like tattys son. She would sit up in bed and just stare into space, couldn't talk to her and got no response. Unfortunately hers were the beginning of her nightime seizures.
