As this is an AS forum, I was going to suggest a book about a mental hospital run by the inmates and written from the points of view of several different patients. But it's SF, so no-one would read it.
So this month's book is a bit more down to earth -

A Short Walk in the Hindu Kush by (the recently deceased :( ) Eric Newby

Unless folks have already read it...

great suggestion Nemo (folks there's no rule that the books have to be fiction).

I haven't read it but I do think it's lurking around our bookshelves somewhere. :)

e-copy

Well we didn't have a copy after all. Our local Waterstones didn't have one in and Amazon have it on a 2-3 week delivery! But I have been able to order a copy from the library. So should get it next weekend.

Having been a very popular book some years back, it may well be available for 50p at your local charity shop.

I can't read it in November, Nemo, but I'll try and read it in early December and post my thoughts then.

I've not read it, so I'm looking forward to it.

This book is becoming a bit of a b****r to get hold of! The library reservation system has messed up. I ordered it a week ago today and according to their online catalogue it's still sitting on the shelf at its home branch. :glare: . I might just drive across town on Monday and pick it up in person. Grrr.

Sorry about that. I assumed that as it was such a classic travel book (and the fact that he passed away recently) would make it available all over the place.

If anyone really can't get hold of a copy, I could lend you mine.

Has anyone else finished this months book.
I was thinking it might be an idea to start next months a little bit earlier as December is always so busy.

What do you think?

I'm doing December's and it's a short book - a fantastic ghost story for Christmas. I'll post it on a new thread in a couple of days, then I'll come back and read Nemo's book and comment on that :)
