My apologies to all. Due to this month being tax return month, I have spent a lot of my waking hours doing work. I have almost finished the book so could we comment on it from Sunday/Monday onwards?

I know that Bercol has a book lined up for February. Maybe she would like to announce that one as I am sure there are some of you ready and waiting for the next one. :)

Can I suggest 'The OK Magazine' for March then please :whistle

The only thing I get to read is the label on the tablet bottle to make sure that I take mine and not the cats

Apologies from me too.
I do want to read it, and it's been sat on my desktop for the last 3 weeks, but life has been unbelievably
Spoiler
this last month. But not ASD related this time, thankfully.
At least the tax return was easy - no work = no money = no tax.

Oo-er, I didn't even get as far as acquiring the book this month. Is having my Mum move out into her own house three weeks ago sufficient excuse?

I've just reserved it at the library.

   A perfectly acceptable reason BK!!

I think life has been so hectic for EVERYONE these last few months, it is a wonder we can fit any little extras in!

Just a quick question though........

HAS ANYONE MANAGED TO READ IT AT ALL? B)

That is not a sarcastic question by the way!!! I promise I am not, nor will I ever be mortally offended if I find the answer is a resounding no! It would just mean I do not have to bust a gut to get it finished by the weekend! I can put my feet up with my whiskey and watch television instead!

I read this a few months ago and it is well worth it. I wouldn't normally have bought it but it was very highly recommended to me I honestly thought it was one of the best books I read last year.

I have pinned your February book topic for you at the top of the threads. :D

In that case, let us adjourn the verdicts until the weekend after this one (or when you have finished BK).

I actually believe this to be a very good book BK so I do not think you will be disappointed.

I took delivery of Bercol1's book today! :excellent

Well it's official this book has to be in my top 10 best books ever read.

I guess for as long as i can remember there has been war in Afghanistan. Whenever I hear the country being mentioned, these images of war are brought to mind. Tanks, guns, arid lands, child soldiers etc.
This book helped to bring this country to life for me and paint a different picture. It gave me a sound historical account of the troubles while weaving the story of Amir and Hassan through it. This has given me a much more colourful vision of Afghanistan.

I was talking to one of my friends about the book and she said she had the same view of Ireland. Any time anyone metion Ireland she thought of guns and conflict and murals painted on walls etc. She went to visit last year and could not believe how beautiful the country was, how trendy Dublins is and how outdated and narrow minded she was.

So thanks twinkle I enjoyed it a lot. What did you think about it.

B.
