Butterlyfly and Insect World, EdinburghEdinburgh Butterfly and Insect World, Lasswade, Edinburgh/Midlothian

If you have a spare hour this butterfly farm is an intresting place to visit. It not only has butterflies, and information abo
ut them, but also handling sessions, twice daily, for snakes (pythons), millipedes, and taratulas. People are told how to hold these animals, and information about the animals provided. They also have an observation bee hive (closed when visited due to mite infection)

They have a wide collection of reptiles. And they also have some fish, including koi carp and chicilids. There are notices around the pathways about what to look for on what plants, and why the butterflies (and catepillars) are coloured like they are.

The whole area is small, and is not too busy. There is very little noise, but due to the tropical nature of the butterflies and caterpillars, it is very very hot.
